Steve Smith joined Timberland Investment Resources, LLC (TIR) in 2008 as Director of Forest Management. Steve is responsible for timberland management, biometric research and leadership of TIR’s investment foresters. Steve ensures that investment property returns are optimized through the implementation of appropriate management regimes and disposition strategies, as well as through the utilization of proprietary tools and technologies to enhance overall portfolio performance.

With 30 years of managerial and technical experience in all phases of timberland management, Steve is an industry leader in forest operations, business analysis, information systems and strategic planning. In his most recent assignment, Steve was the Regional Resource Manager for a major timberland REIT and was responsible for the management of over 670,000 acres (over $700 million in market value), overseeing a staff of over 60 forestry and management professionals.

Steve holds a B.S. in Forest Management as well as an M.S. in Forest Biometrics from Oregon State University.
